Friday, December 19th

     Well, our predictions were correct! It has been a VERY exciting week in our classroom!  Blue, the Elf, kept us on our toes!  And, he provided opportunities for reading (his daily letters and notes) and writing (“firsties” questions for an elf).

We never knew where he would be or what surprises he would leave for us!

 

So, Blue, our elf, got called back to the North Pole to help Santa with his tasks!  We were so happy that he was able to visit us for a while!

This week, we learned about symmetry as we designed Christmas ornaments. Each student designed ½ of a Christmas ornament and a buddy would “match” the other half. And, we decorated a Christmas tree using light color patterns!

On Tuesday (Dec 22^nd), first grade students are invited to wear pajamas, robes, slippers, AND to bring a stuffed animal to school! (And, your first grader should bring one or two favorite books from home.) They will be snuggling up with good books and celebrating the holiday season with good friends. 

What an amazing group of first graders!  We have learned so much and had so much fun!

Monday, December 15th

ANOTHER EXCITING DAY IN MRS. BLUE'S 1ST GRADE CLASSROOM

So, we arrived this morning with a message from Blue, our very special elf sent from Santa! He said that he had been roaming in the school over the weekend!  He was in the Media Center looking at some books (We think he likes to read just like us!), and he found the book, The Gingerbread Man. He even left it for us to read! (We aren't sure if he checked it out or not.  We are checking with Ms. Olson.)

So, we enjoyed the book, and we found some other ways to practice reading and math!  We used marshmallows to measure parts of a gingerbread man!

 
 


We thought that our elf was going rest while we were in the Media Center at 2:30. But, when we got back to our classroom......Gingerbread Men for Everyone!

 

Our elf is a very special elf!  AND, our class is a VERY special class!
