So,
the Creature Café is Open! And we have
had a great week!
The Creature Cafe offers "food",
games, fun and LOTS of learning! There are opportunities for role-playing, creative
writing, practicing math skills, poetry, and much more.
Daily Five
Next week, we will work on identifying the main
idea and supporting details of reading selections. And, BATS will be our context! We will read non-fiction selections and talk
about the important facts presented. (We
will also enjoy some fiction books that use bats as wonderful characters!) We are also writing stories using descriptive
words to describe the Halloween characters in our writing.
AND….
We are building equations!!!! We
are looking at number partners, using models and drawings to find the totals.
We are also
counting nickels and pennies! Ask your
first grader if he/she is finding the total by “counting all” or
“counting on”?
PICTURES, PUMPKINS, AND PICNIC (IN THAT
ORDER!)
If you haven’t
sent your picture order or submitted it on-line, do so by Monday. If you placed
your order on-line, please send a copy
of receipt to school on Monday.
We will have
school pictures made on Monday, October 27th at 10:20, followed by pumpkin carvings. (Feel
free to send a shirt to put over “picture clothes” for pumpkin carving.) Weather permitting, we will have our picnic
lunch at 11:30. (If it is rainy, we will enjoy our lunch in the classroom.)
Please send a towel for the picnic. Join
us if you can! Just check in at the
office.
