SO MANY GREAT THINGS TODAY!
We began the Word Work Component of Daily Five today. What is Word Work?
Creating and maintaining a time every day to focus on words is critical to developing readers, writers, and communicators. This time is spent in the following areas:
- Experimenting with words for learning and practicing a spelling pattern
- Memorizing high frequency words
- Generalizing spelling patterns
- Adding to our knowledge and curiosity of new and interesting words
At school, your student will have the opportunity to practice words using a variety of materials:
- Whiteboards
- Magnetic letters
- Wikki Stix
- Play Doh
- Letter Stamps
- Colored Markers
- Magazine Cut-Outs
- Tracing in Salt or Sand
I will introduce your student to a variety of practice activities that focus on words that he/she is working on. We will practice using the materials at school so that each student can explore different ways for mastering the words.
This is what that looks like:
AND WHAT ABOUT THAT LEAF MAN??????
We read this book today and created characters from the Leaf Collections students brought in this week.
