Friday, January 16th

Blue Notes
Friday, January 16th (and, if you have seen the newsletter, it says Jan 12th! I lost a week!)

WHAT A GREAT WEEK!  AND, WE FINALLY GOT OUTSIDE!

These “firsties” are working so hard and getting outside gives them the opportunity to PLAY hard as well.  Just a reminder to make sure your child gets plenty of good rest after after-school and outside activities.  A good night’s sleep makes school so much more successful AND fun!

WE ARE MAPMAKERS!!!! (We have learned that people who make maps are called “cartographers”.)  This week we have been working on Treasure Maps, and we have even learned how to read “coordinates” on a map.

Next week we will write stories about finding the treasure on our maps. We will also start on our three-dimensional map of our school and the spaces around it.

We will also continue work on our autobiographies (A Map of My Life). I am sorry that I was unclear in the information I needed about birthdays, birth weights, places of birth, and full name.  I need that information about your firstie-not you:)  So, if you sent the information about you, please fill out the information again about your firstie and return on Monday.

In math, we are exploring math problems with totals in the “teens”  and learning how to group numbers into groups of tens and ones. We are learning math games to help us with our practice.

We are also working on our 2015 calendar (A Map of the Year), that should come home next week.

And, we will be outside whenever the weather allows.  So, please make sure your "firstie" has snow pants, a coat, snow boots, a hat, and mittens every day.

Enjoy the long weekend!
