It has been a cold start to the New Year, and while we missed a day this week, we were surely working hard while we were here! We are learning so much about maps and how they can help us find our place/space!  This week we created:

AND MORE!!!!

We have learned that there are many kinds of maps!  Next week, we will begin work on treasure maps, maps of our school and school neighborhood!  We will even begin constructing a 3-dimensional map!

In Daily Five we are working on Comprehension (I understand what I read.), Accuracy (I can read the words.), Fluency (I can read accurately with expression and understand what I read.), and Expanding Vocabulary (I know, find and use interesting words.)  We will also begin work on our autobiographies!

In math  we will continue exploring how numbers are grouped (tens and ones) and we will learn about the idea of more and less.  We will continue practice with math fact families and story problems.

And, we will explore the properties of LIQUIDS!!!

AND….WHENEVER THE WEATHER ALLOWS, WE WILL GET OUTSIDE AND BE ACTIVE!
